Colored Delegates Are Elected.

To Attend Negro Convention At
Houston

     Pursuant to a call from state chairman, M. H. Broyles, the colored men of Falls county met at the court house on the 17th, and elected delegates to the Texas negro Convention, which convenes in Houston on the 29th, inst.
    The meeting was called to order by State Secretary L. S. Simmons, after which a temporary organization was perfected, by electing Wm. Banks, chairman and W. M. Lee secretary; the same was made permanent.
    A committee of three, composed of L. S. Simmons, R. S. Childs and Tom Brodus were appointed to select fifteen delegates.  While the committee was out short speeches were made by James Jackson,
et al, touching on the welfare of their race.
    The following delegates were chosen:  Wm. Banks, Wm Lee, S. E. Collins, P. A. Armstrong, R. C. Shaw, L. S. Simmons, J. H. Childs, T. B. Brodus, E. L. Jackson, J. Washington, P. F. Fields, A. Z. Wheeler, R. L. Williams, G. W. Greer and Dr. R. S. Childs.
    The convention which the delegates are to attend, was organized last October in Houston, and has for its object, plans, etc., which will better their race along all lines which will better their race morally and industrially and to encourage good citizenship.  Since the organization many subordinate organizations have been organized, and formed law and order clubs, which has brought about a more friendly feeling among the people whom they are to live.
