~~~~~
     The club women of the 4th Federated District are here in force to attend the meeting, of Federated clubs now in session in this city. The district has wide geographical boundaries and the representation from every section of the district is good.
     Upon alighting from the trains the members were met by the local reception committees and escorted to their homes while in the city. Monday afternoon from 5 to 6 the visitors were given an drive over the city by the Marlin club women. This was a delightful optic introduction to the hot water town and the Visitors were more than pleased with what they saw. The drive included a stop of a few minutes at Highlands, the palatial of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Clark where the visitors were given an informal reception.
     At night a reception was given, complimentary to the visitors, at Mrs. F. S. Chambers. In addition to the members of the Federated Clubs there were present a large number of others. This proved a very pleasant event.
BUSINESS SESSION
     The federation met at 9 o'clock today in the Methodist church and was called to order by the president, Mrs. W. S. Banks of Temple, The program as published in the DEMOCRAT of Monday, was taken up and followed. The addresses of welcome were delivered in a manner to convince, if further conviction were needed, that Marlin felt highly honored and delighted to have in her midst such an assemblage of
bright Texas women. The responses were hearty and left no room to doubt that the delegates accepted the hospitality of the city in keeping with the manner in which it was extended.
     The delivery of the annual address by the President, Mrs. W. S. Banks of Temple, received close attention throughout. The remainder of the morning's session was devoted to the program, with which our readers are familiar.
     The afternoon session convened at 2 o'clock and the program was resumed. This session, like that of the morning was full of interest. Some live topics were discussed in a live manner.
     At 5 o'clock the Musical Club receives the visiting delegates, local club members and others at the residence of Judge and Mrs. L. W. Goodrich. At 10 p. m., a reception and lunch at the Arlington and the Marlin meeting of the Federated Clubs of the 4th District passes into history.
Nacogdoches Is Chosen For Place Of
Next Meeting
~~~~~

     The Marlin meeting of the Federated Clubs of the 4th District is numbered with the passed events, as a fact, but recollection of it will linger in the minds of its members and visitors indefinitely.
     The universal expression is that it was an exceedingly pleasant and profitable meeting. The business sessions of the federation were full, a number of most excellent papers were read, addresses delivered and some instructive and entertaining discussions held. The entire proceedings were so conducted as to characterize its officers and members as women of more than ordinary intellect, culture and refinement. It may be truly said that some of the brightest women in Texas attended and took part in the proceedings. The social features of this meeting were so planned and executed as to leave little to be desired, and in this respect Marlin ladies have maintained their well merited reputation for genuine Southern hospitality. The visitors have been most profuse in their expressions of appreciation of the successful efforts made to entertain them while in the hot water city.
     Prominent among the events specially arranged in honor of the visitors was the reception at the residence of Mrs. L. W. Goodrich on Tuesday afternoon by the Wednesday Matinee Musical Club. In addition to the visitors there were present a large number of local guests.
     The reception at night at the Arlington hotel was an event of much pleasure to the large number present. Some especially bright toasts were prepared and responded to in a vein that was nothing short of an intellectual treat.  Miss Kate Friend of Waco presided as toast mistress.

BUSINESS SESSION.

     The afternoon session of the Federation was replete with good things in an educational and social way.  All subjects were discussed in a most interesting and instructive manner.  Those of special interest were "How shall politics be eliminated from our club elections".  discussed by Mesdames price of Bastrop, Curry of Brenham, Miss Friend of Waco and others.  The paper on "Kindergarten Work" by Mrs. Seymour of Dallas; "Saving the Alamo" by Mrs. Fred B. Robinson of Waco; "Presidents Message" Mrs. E. P. Turner, state president, Dallas.
     The election of a vice president to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs. W. Christian resulted in the election of Mrs. H. Nelson Jones of Houston.
     Nacogdoches was the only place in nomination for the next place of meeting and it was unanimously chosen.
     A resolution of thanks was extended to the clubs and citizens of Marlin for their efforts to make the stay of the delegates pleasant and the Federation adjourned.
