       The Marlin Business League held its regular monthly meeting at the Arlington hotel Tuesday night.
       There was a good attendance present and considerable interest was manifested in the proceedings.
       A special committee was appointed to assist treasurer in collecting fees and dues of members as follows:  W. W. Allen, D. Adam, Jno G. Oltorf.
       The special committee on membership reported a number of new names.  Their report was received and discharged.
       The special committee for the entertainment of the New Orleans delegation reported and their report was filed.
       The committee on city development reported progress.  Among other things considered was a proposition from Col. Baker to establish a city park.  The proposition embraced the use of some 15 or 20 acres of land out of his homestead property in the western part of the city.  The matter was not disposed of, the committee being granted further time.
       Judge G. G. Moore stated that he was in communication with parties who were considering the establishment of a compress in Marlin and who would, in a day or two, submit a proposition to the people of Marlin for their consideration.  Mr. L. E. Allen stated also that he had a communication from parties who were considering an enterprise of this kind.
       The advertising committee reported that they were considering some lines of advertising but as yet had formulated no definite report.
       The question of securing a band for the summer months to play for the visitors at some central point, other than at hotels, was discussed and on motion a committee was appointed to take charge of the matter and authorized to raise money for the purpose.  The committee is a (sic) follows:  J. G. Oltorf, Dr. J. C. Sneed, Dr. S.P. Robertson.
