BOOSTER ORDINANCE REPEALED.

CITY COUNCIL REVERSES ITSELF ON THE
PROPOSITION.

     The city council, at a special session Tuesday, repealed what has been commonly known as the "Booster" ordinance.
     The ordinance was passed at the regular session held Wednesday, August 3, and published in the official organ the day following.      Alderman Robertson, was opposed the measure from the beginning, led the fight for the repeal and on his motion, seconded by Alderman Sanders, the council voted unanimously to repeal. Alderman Allen being out of the City. was not present.
     Alderman Robertson entered a motion to repeal the meat peddling ordinance, passed at the same meeting. This motion was seconded by Alderman King. Pending the vote on the motion Lawyer Harlan was called in for an opinion as to the legality of such a measure. He cited authorities to support the theory of its legality.
     On motion city attorney was instructed to draw up ordinances repealing both measures and report same at afternoon session.

OTHER BUSINESS TRANSACTED.

     The council passed an ordinance required all persons owning closets in the fire limits and within 150 feet of the sewer line to connect with same under a penalty of from five to twenty-five dollars. The connections must be made by September 1.
     The proposition of Schimming & Eddins to erect four flushing tanks for storing water for flushing purposes to hold 500 gallons each and to stand on towers ten feet high, for the sum of $140.00 was accepted.
     The proposition of A. R. Wright to furnish water for the four tanks for $5.00 per month until his returns from sewerage connections shall reach $50.00 per month when the water is to be free, was accepted.

AFTERNOON SESSION.

     The city attorney reported the ordinances repealing the booster and meat ordinances as per instruction's of city council. The booster repeal ordinance was passed but action was deferred on the meat repealing ordinance until next meeting, after the same had been read one time.
     A new ordinance was introduced by Alderman Robertson the question of "boosting."  The provisions of Mr. Robertson's ordinance, which goes over till next meeting, makes it a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than five or more than one hundred dollars for anyone person to solicit boarders or bathers for a period of twenty minutes after the passenger alights from the train. In other words the ordinance, if adopted, wiII give the visitor twenty minutes start of the booster.
     An ordinance was presented by Alderman Fannin providing that hereafter all vehicles run for public patronage in the city of Marlin
will be subject to a license tax and the owners thereof must secure a permit from the city before doing any business in said lines. The ordinance goes over until next meeting.
     The secretary was instructed to draw warrant for $140.00 on order of committee in charge of erecting, flushing tanks when work or same is completed.
