MASQUERADE BALL.

       Despite the inclemency of the weather, a Masquerade Ball, given by the Herman Sons Lodge of Marlin, was very much enjoyed by the German-Americans of this city and surrounding country last night.
       The hall was appropriately decorated for the occasion and admired by all.  Some of the costumes were unique and comical while others were beautiful, reflecting good taste and originality upon the wearers.  After masks were removed, lunch was served and the dancing resumed till the approaching dawn.

       Those present who were masked were:

       Misses Bertha Bowman, Goddess of night; Katie Bowman, School girl; Bertha Rickelman, Puritan maid; Marie Bowman, Bat; Lula Smith, Domino; Yetta Czirr, Goddess of night; Bertha Scheiblich, Goddess of Morn; Emma Czirr, Garden girl; Annie Scheiblich, Bat.

       Messrs Nic Santer, H. Y. Bletch, Fat couple; Fred Smith, Country doctor; G. J. Welle (Gerald) , John Bull; F. Pfeiffer, Turk; Theo Portele, Subject of Henry II; John Portele, Court Jester; Geo. Schuh, Old Beck; J. W. Harter, Railroad Snipe.

       Others present were:

       Mrs. L. Santer, Mrs. H. Bletch, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Scheiblich, Mrs. J. W. Harter, Miss Helen Welle, Miss Mary Rickelmann,O.Schuddemagen, H. Rickelmann.

       Among other pleasant features of the masquerade ball, was the rendition of some very humorous songs by the Portele Brothers, proficient in songs, was particularly enjoyed.
       Mrs. R. G. Welle was among the onlookers at the masquerade ball.
