MARLIN
Marlin.--Sunday was another high day at the Marlin Baptist Church from the
Sunday school throughout the day; every phase was largely attended; the Eastern
circle conducted a St. Patrick program which, as a novelty, was enjoyed by a
large attendance. Thursday and Friday the church entertained the Falls
County Interscholastic League in its annual session, under the leadership of C.
A. Wyman and his able assistant; this session was easily pronounced the greatest
in the history. The famous pageant, "Heaven Bound," was repeated Thursday
night to an overwhelming crowd; this play drawn comment from many people.
The Y. W. A. plans an Easter program 4 a.m., Sunday; come out and enjoy the
cantata. Services were well attended all day at St. Paul A. M. E. Church;
Rev. Coffee preached two able sermons. At 3 the Masons and Heorines sermon
was preached. The Booker T. Washington High School was victorius during
the Interscholastic League--Brenham Graves won in high jumping, poll volting,
broad jumping and in 50-yard dash; William Johnson won in shot putting; Willie
McGruder won in 440; Tinola Robinson won in junior declaming; Robert Hobs won in
senior declaiming; Austin Kitcher won first prize in essay writing and Marvin
Robinson second prize. Read The Houston Informer.--Harry Nelson, Reporter
