Legion Names Committee
For Falls County Fair

Park Committee Instructed to Continue
Support of This Movement

A committee to investigate the feasibility of holding a Falls county fair in Marlin and report back at the July meeting was named at the regular June sessions of Falls county post No. 31 American Legion in the assembly room, second floor of the city hall, Thursday night. Members of the committee are Raymond Barnett, A. J. Hardin, R. E. Alburtis, O. A. Edwards and L. J. Dupuy.
B. C. Segrest, post commander reported a shipment of rifles for use in legion ceremonies was expected to arrive in Marlin soon.
The commander also reported funds for the Dan Edwards memorial in Pershinghall in Paris, France raised and forwarded to the committee.
V. R. Marek reported on progress of plans for a legion dance, the committee being granted more time.
The legion voted unanimous endorsement of action of the park committee, which recently went before the city council in connection with this proposal and pledged continued support of the movement.
A letter of appreciation was read from Harold Cravatt, world war veteran, for assistance of the post and getting him admitted to the government hospital at Alexandria, La.
Plans were also announced for the fish-fry on July 3 for veterans of all wars, which will be held on the H. O. Barganier place west of the Brazos river at the mouth of Deer creek, and a committee composed of V. R. Marek and R. E. Alburtis to ask employers to let all ex-service men off long enough to attend this event was named.
O. A. Edwards advised the legion of plans of the auxiliary for joint outing and basket picnic at the I. G. N. lake soon.
