HARMONY HILL--PERRY.

To The Democrat:  We have had a fine rain.  Puts a good season in the ground for fall plowing and seeding of grain, but it did not give much stock water.

Most of the fleecy staple is out and our farmers have already begun work for another year.  The last few years farmers have been getting their crop out early in the autumn, and this is as it should be.  It gives more time to prepare their land for the coming year, and it gives the children better school advantages.  As used to be, it was no unusual sight to see the farmer and his family in the cotton fields till February and March gathering his crop.

Frank Oakes and family are preparing to move to Marlin where they will reside int he future.  We regret to give up these good people, but what will be our loss will be Marlin's gain.  We wish them much prosperity in their new home.

Some of our good people are complaining of the dengue fever in their homes.  However, we hope that the cool wealther (sic) will put a stop to this malady.

The Huseby brothers have sold their fine farm and we are all sorry to see them leave, but we hope that they will yet decide to settle among us.  Should they go, we bid them Godspeed.

The Harmony Hill school started Monday, October 21, with Miss Lou Greer as teacher.  Now We hope that the patrons will co-operate with their teacher by sending their children regularly to school.  Try not to miss a single day.  If you do this, at the end of the school term you will feel grateful to the teacher for having learned them so much. One can not expect their children to advance much in their studies when you keep them a day or so out of a week, no matter how hard the teacher tries to form a system in her classes.  When some will stop out of school a day or so this works a hardship on the other pupils who attend school regularly back in their studies to await the tardy ones to catch up or else just put them to themselves.

Now let's co-operate and give our teacher our support by sending our children regularly to the school and I will assure you the teacher and the trustees will certainly do their part.  Give us a good school at Harmony Hill and in after years we will see the results of it.
                                                                   GUESS WHO.
