FALLS COUNTY NEWS (#2)

Gurley Gossip.

To The Democrat:

    Our pretty weather is too good to last, as it has clouded up and gone to raining again.  While the weather was fair nearly all the farmers have finished picking their cotton and started to plowing.

    J. S. Peter, superintendent of S. A. & A. P. railway, Mr. Sanbain and Mr. Wagner, civil engineers, were here Thursday on an inspection tour of the cahe railroad is building.

    Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Wolff and Mrs. R. M. Williams spent Monday in Waco.

    Our school started Monday with Miss Francis Steen as teacher, so far only eleven pupils have been enrolled.

    Edwin Westbrook and family have moved from Gurley to Mart, where he goes into the hardward business the first of the year.  We wish him the very best of success.

Eureka Etchings.

To The Democrat:

    As it has been nearly a century since we have represented our little town, me thinks, maybe the people of Falls county will be astonished, if not pleasantly surprised, to be informed that we have not just arisen from the dead, but have been enjoying a week of beautiful sunshine.  However, a narrow escape as the Goddess of Atmosphere is slowly but steadily distributing her magnificent colors upon the already wet soil.

    Cotton picking still numbers among the interesting industries.

    Hurry, boys; hurry, Christmas is near, and you know the girls are all watching pereringly for a peep at dea Old Santa.

    Our school is progressing under the management of Prof. L. H. Fore.

    Sad to state, but we mourn the loss of one of our best families, Mr. Kagler's.  However, we are glad to have the opportunity of complimenting Otto.  Mr. Kagler will reside at that place.

    Services at church third Sunday.  Our newly elected pastor, Rev. Carriway of Waco will officiate.  Sunday school is progressing nicely, fair weather permitting a good attendance.

    Mr. William Thomas of Mart was a most welcome guest here recently.

    Mrs. Dr. Woodards of the Indian Territory has returned after an extended visit to friends at this place.

    Mr. and Mrs. George Morris of Mart have been visiting relatives here.

    Charlie Leuschner and wife of Otto were in our midst last week.

    Now if this little bit of news escapes the dear editor's waste basket, we hope to hear again from.
