Julius Benjamin Wilkey, b March 27, 1889 in Falls County, Texas, d December 1,
1942 and buried in Carolina Cemetery-was a son of Willis Benjamin and Alice
(Farmer) Wilkey, natives of Russell County, Alabama and South Carolina,
respectively.
Julius grew up in West Falls County, where the family farmed. On November 10,
1917, he was married to Martha Leah Atkins (called "Mattie"), b July 23, 1895 in
Falls County, d September 4, 1972-a daughter of Joseph Warren and Margaret
(Powell) Atkins, Jr., both natives of Butler County, Alabama.
The couple had seven children, whom they reared during the depression, and when
Julius died, Mattie had six minor children. She lived in the Chilton and Lott
areas, where the children attended school before moving to Marlin.
The children of Julius and Mattie were:
Ima Louise Wilkey, b June 29, 1920-married on March 25, 1940 to Alfred Densman
(called "Tincy"), b June 27, 1920, d May 7, 1979. Their children were: Patsy
Darlene Densman, b October 17, 1941-married first in October 1962 to James
Williams, b August 8, 1939, and had Deborah Williams, b July 26, 1963 who
married October 17, 1980 to Michael Cook, b May 20, 1961 and had Christopher
Cook, b May 30, 1981; and Rhonda Williams, b August 24, 1964-who is unmarried.
The second child of Ima Louise and Alfred Densman was Betty Lou Densman, b
September 11, 1948, who married February 7, 1970 to Charles Haralson, b December
12, 1945 and they had Gary Wayne Haralson, b November 16, 1971. The third child
of Ima Louise and Alfred Densman was Alford Dwayne Densman, b August 14,
1956-married January 13, 1979 to Jackie Williamson, b March 14, 1955 (her second
marrieage). Her daughter, Amity, b March 7, 1974, was adopted by Alford, and he
and Jackie had Autumn Belle Densman, b May 19, 1980.
Katheryn Faye Wilkey, b June 1, 1923, d July 31, 1978-married first to Robert
Frankum, and married second to Sidney Howell. They adopted a son, James Karl
Howell (called "Jimmy"), b August 30, 1953, who is unmarried.
Wanda Lee Wilkey, b September 16, 1925-married May 28, 1940 to Billy Hancock, b
July 7, 1922, and had Sandra Lee Hancock, b September 21, 1942 who married Bill
Reese, b August 8, 1941 and had Travis Clayton Reese, b July 23, 1966. Sandra
married second on March 7, 1970 to Richard Cramer, b October 12, 1941. Wanda Lee
(Wilkey) Hancock married second in July 1946 to Benton Briggs, b August 26,
1918, d August 25, 1970, and had Cynthia Ann Briggs, b June 24, 1947 who married
first on December 7, 1963 to Craig Saunders, b April 4, 1947 and had Craig
Saunders, Jr., b February 29, 1964 and is unmarried, and Chance Saunders, b July
14, 1970 and is unmarried. Cynthia Ann (Briggs) Saunders married second on June
1, 1974 to James Clark (called "Jim"), b March 25, 1950, and had Jamie Clark-a
daughter, b March 1, 1976. Wanda Lee (Wilkey) Hancock Briggs married third on
June 16, 1952 to Charles Baulch (called "Charlie") , b October 8, 1923 and had
one son: Charles Thomas Baulch, b February 4, 1974 who married Celia Moore, b
April 9, 1974; and a daughter, Shay Lynn Baulch, b December 4, 1976.
Julius Harold Wilkey, b March 20, 1929-married first on August 4, 1945 to Callie
Salsiccia, b June 18, 1919. They had one son and three daughters: Mary Ann
Wilkey, b June 4, 1946 who married October 30, 1970 to James Williams (called
"Jim"), and had Michael Williams, b March 27, 1973; Harold Gene Wilkey, b May
20, 1950 who married June 22, 1975 to Karen Horton and had Christy Wilkey, b
February 16, 1980. "Gene" is employed by the H.E.B. Super-Market in Marlin;
Carolyn Wilkey, b July 13, 1952 who married July 19, 1970 to Joe Contella and
has one daughter, Kelly Marie Contella, b August 12, 1973; and the fourth child
was Barbara Wilkey, b April 16, 1957, who is unmarried. Julius Harold Wilkey
married second on November 1, 1970 to Sue Norman, b April 4, 1935, and they have
twin sons: Jerry and Larry Wilkey, b May 1, 1971.
James Terrell Wilkey, b January 24, 1932-married Anna Lois Patterson, and has
two children.
Bobbie Jena Wilkey, b November 9, 1935-married first on June 27, 1955 to Wesley
Moore, b June 13, 1932, and married second on March 30, 1962 to Robert Carroll
Chamberlain, b January 22, 1928, and married third on February 6, 1965 to John
A. Clayton, b March 31, 1918. They adopted two boys: Robert Michael Clayton, b
March 29, 1966, and Michael Kevin Clayton, b January 14, 1968.
Joe Roy Wilkey, b September 30, 1937-married December 2f2, 1956 to Glenda Cole,
b December 10, 1939, and four daughters: Leah Lucille Wilkey, b May 19, 1958 who
married August 21, 1976 to Joey Real, b August 20, 1953 and had Caleb Real, b
October 26, 1978; Janis Darlene Wilkey, b December 9, 1959 who married August
15, 1960; Linda Lee Wilkey, b November 10, 1964 who is unmarried; and Sara
Wilkey, b July 18, 1975.
