DURWOOD VASSER
Durwood Vasser, b May 13, 1916 at Chilton, Falls County, Texas-was a son
of Charles Gibson and Julia Pearl (Nelson) Vasser, Durwood married Gertrude
Drews, b April 28, 1921 - a daughter of Albert and Emma (Kamfhenkel) Drews, of
the St. Paul Community near Marlin, Texas.
Durwood was a carpenter and worked for his father-in-law for many years.
He is now with the Maintenance Department of the Marlin Independent Schoo]
District. Durwood and Gertrude were members of the First Presbyterian Church of
Marlin until their children were teenagers. Because of the excellent Youth
Program at the First Baptist Church of Marlin, they transferred their membership
to that Church, and are still members there.
Durwood and Gertrude (Drews) Vasser are the parents of two children:
Donald Vasser, M.D., b October 1, 1954 - who married Debbie Huffman, of
Euliss, Texas. Dr. Vasser is a Pediatrician in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. They have
two children: Sue Ann Vasser, b 1984, and Murray Vasser, b 1986, in Oklahoma.
Carol Vasser, b May 31, 1958 in Marlin - works for Hillcrest Medical
Tower in Waco, Texas. She resides in Cedar Springs, Falls County, Texas. She is
a talented musician, and one of the pianists for the First Baptist Church of
Marlin.
