ANDREW CARVER TURNER

 

     Andrew Carver Turner, b June 19, 1906 at Lipscomb, Texas, d August 14, 1983 in Huntsville, was a son of William Foster and Phydelia (Carver) Turner who moved to Marlin, Falls County, Texas in 1913.

     Andrew was a 1924 graduate of Marlin High School, and a 1933 Sul Ross College graduate. He taught school at Canadian two years, and served as Superintendent of the Indian School in Livingston, Texas 1935-1937. On January 15, 1938, he became associated with the Texas Department of Corrections, retiring after twenty years of state service on the State Board of Pardons and Paroles.

     On April 14, 1928 in Marlin, Andrew married Myree Evelyn Bryan, b January 15, 1908 in Marlin- a daughter of Peyton James and Ella Victoria (Bin nicker) Bryan. Andrew and Myree Evelyn had two sons: William Bryan Turner, b October 20, 1931; and Roy Peyton Turner, b November 9, 1934.

     Myree Evelyn (Bryan) Turner resides in Huntsville, Texas.
