ERNEST BEN RADLE

 

 

     Ernest Ben Radle, b September 11, 1922 in Falls County, Texas - was a son of Ernest John and Clara Jane (Tepe) Radle. Ernest graduated from Marlin High School, and entered the U.S. Army in 1942 during World War II. After training in California, he served in Italy, where he was wounded in 1943, Africa, and Sicily. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Infantry Badge, and two Battle Stars.

     Returning to Falls County after the end of the war, Ernest was married on September 29, 1946 to Charlotte Ann Jones, b December 7, 1927 in Tarrant County, Texas, and reared in Port Arthur - a daughter of Clarence William and Beulah Belva (Cooper) Jones. They had one daughter:

     Jane Ann Radle, b September 20,1947 - married October 26, 1968 to Jimmy Drews, b September 12, 1945 - a son of Edmund Fred and Martha Drews, of Marlin. Jimmy is a meat cutter for Safeway Stores; and he and Jane Ann are the parents of two daughters: Lezlee Drews, b September 8, 1980; and Lauren Drews, b October 15, 1981. They reside near Marlin, Texas.

     Ernest Ben Radle was called "Ernest, Jr." - although his middle name was different from his father's. He has been a farmer and rancher in Falls County all his adult life, and owns a farm near the McClanahan Community, although his is located north of Marlin.

     Charlotte Ann is now retired, after working as a laboratory technician for many years at Torbett - Hutchings-Smith Memorial Hospital in Marlin.
