DELMON QUANDT
Delmon Quandt, b September 21, 1908 in Warren- ton,
Fayette County, Texas, d May 24, 1982 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in
Marlin, Texas - was a son of William and Marie (Lemke) Quandt who moved from
Fayette County to Falls County in 1914, settling in the St. Paul Community north
of Marlin.
On February 1, 1938 in the Zion Lutheran Church in
Otto, Falls County, Texas, Delmon married Irene Bertha Sophie Jander, b March
16,1919 at Otto - a daughter of Rudolph Heinrich and Ida Wilhelmine Marie
(Kuretsch) Jander, Jr.
Delmon Quandt was baptized December 13, 1908 in
Warrenton, Fayette County, Texas at the Evangelical Lutheran Johannes Church. He
came to Falls County with his parents at the age of five years, and attended
school in the St. Paul Community. He was a Director of Falls County Farm Bureau
for twenty-five years, and he and Irene were members of the Grace Lutheran
Church in Marlin, Texas, where she continues her membership.
Delmon and Irene (Jander) Quandt were the parents
of two daughters:
Joyce Ann Quandt, b March 28, 1942 in Marlin, Falls
County, Texas - married December 10, 1966 in the Grace Lutheran Church in Marlin
to Richard Edgar Bennion, b June 27,1937. Joyce Ann was baptized at Zion
Lutheran Church at Otto, Texas, and con- firmed at Grace Lutheran Church in
Marlin. She at- tended St. Paul School until it consolidated with Marlin
Independent School District in 1948 - and graduated from Marlin High School on
May 26, 1960. She received her B.S. degree in Nursing from The University of
Texas - Galveston, in May 1965. Richard Edgar and Joyce Ann (Quandt) Bennion
have one son, Michael Craig Bennion, b April 3, 1970 in Wharton, Texas.
Mary Jane Quandt, b August 27, 1950 in Marlin,
Falls County, Texas - married June 9, 1979 in a garden wedding in Dallas, Texas
to Kevin David Kelley, b April 14, 1947 in Bronx, New York City, New York- a son
of Donnell Frederich and Alyce Virginia (Macdonald) Kelley. Mary Jane was
baptized and confirmed in the Grace Lutheran Church in Marlin, and graduated
from Marlin High School ,in May 1968. She received a B.A. degree in Sociology in
August 1973 from The University of Texas. Kevin David and Mary Jane (Quandt)
Kelley have one son, James Patrick Quandt Kelley, b April 7, 1982 in Salem,
Oregon.
Irene (Jander) Quandt continues to reside in
Marlin, Texas, where she is a member of Falls County Historical Commission and a
volunteer in the Falls County Historical Museum.
