JOHN LYNN

     John Lynn, b 1869 at Highbank, Falls County, Texas, d 1926 and buried in Bethany Cemetery at Highbank - was a son of Calvin Lynn, b 1821 in Tennessee, d 1914 and buried in Bethany Cemetery at Highbank, and his wife, Sarah Jane (Daniels) Lynn, b 1835 in Alabama, d 1881 and buried in Bethany Cemetery at Highbank. Calvin and Sarah Jane settled in the Highbank area of Falls County prior to 1855. After the Civil War, Calvin purchased land at Highbank, and all his and Sarah Jane's children were born there. Fourth generation descendants continue to own the family land, and continue their agricultural pursuits on the land.

     On January 2, 1916 in Falls County, John Lynn was married second to Irene Estelle Burch, b 1893, d 1956 and buried in Zion Rock Cemetery at Highbank - a daughter of Reverend Willis Burch, b 1868 in Alabama - a son of John W. and Lucinda (Baskin) Burch, and his wife, Eliza (Miller) Burch, died before 1935- and both buried in Zion Rock Cemetery at Highbank. John Lynn had had children by his first marriage; and he and Irene Estelle were the parents of nine children:

     John Calvin Lynn, II of Austin, Texas, died of an early heart attack. He married, but had no children.

     Cecil Augustus Lynn resides in Marlin, Texas and had eight children - including three sons who served as Officers in the U.S. Army: Cecil Lynn, II, Lugene Lynn, Milton Lynn, Betty Lynn, Bobby Lynn, Janice Lynn, and twins - Brenda Lynn and Linda Lynn.

     Tommie Lynn, who married Charlemagne Washington - had a son, Charlie Washington, II, who has two children: Edward Earl Washington, and Charwone Washington. Tommie resides in Marlin, Texas, while her son and grandchildren reside in Los Angeles, California. The grandson, Edward Earl Lynn, married Valenna Lorder, and their daughter is Erika Nicole Washington.

     Richard Columbus Lynn (called “R. C.”), returned to Falls County after having lived in California. He had no children, and resided in Highbank when he died.

     Carl B. Lynn married and moved to San Francisco, California. His daughter, Bernice Carolyn Lynn, also resides there.

     James Elvis Lynn, b February 16, 1922 at High- bank, Falls County, Texas-married March 9,1952 to Zona Mae Hunnicutt, b January 7, 1928 near Marlin, Falls County, Texas, and they had two children.

     Johnnie Rene Lynn - died at the age of six months.

     Ernestine Lynn - married Reverend E. Leroy Evans - a Baptist minister of New Waverly, Texas. They have no children, and reside in San Francisco, California. Mrs. Evans returns to Falls County quite often, to visit and participate in the various activities of interest to her and her family.

     Lillian Lynn - married Fred Deaver of Brown- wood, Texas, and they had two daughters: Debra Irene Deavers, who married Lennard Byrd and had two children, Jaron Byrd and Tamara Byrd; and Tara Yvette Deavers, who is not married. Lillian and Fred Deavers reside in Odessa, Texas.

     John Lynn and his family lived in Highbank, where he continued to farm the land purchased by his parents.
