BENJAMIN LOUIS LANDRUM, M.D.

 

 

     Benjamin Louis Landrum, M.D., b December 5, L818 in South Carolina, d September 2, 1899 in Falls County, Texas and buried in Beulah Cemetery - was a graduate of a medical school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was married ca 1846 to Mrs. Elizabeth (Park) Page, who died in 1867 in Alabama. In 1868, Dr. Landrum immigrated to Falls County, Texas with his eight children, settling west of the Brazos River where he practiced medicine until 1875. He and several of his children moved to Madison County, Texas for three years, thence to Austin County, where his brothers, Samuel and William Landrum, and a sister had moved, - remaining there for ten years. In the mean time, Dr. Landrum had married second to Pherabee Lee, and they had three children.

     The children of Dr. Landrum and his first wife, Elizabeth (Park), were:

     Antionette Landrum, b ca 1847 in Alabama, d before 1892 - married Thomas Bentley.

     George L. Landrum, b ca 1849 in Alabama - came to Falls County, Texas in 1868, but moved to Madison County, Texas, where he was living in 1892.

     Elmore ("Pete") Landrum, b April 22, 1850 in Alabama, d August 22, 1932 and buried in Beulah Cemetery - married Sarah Elizabeth Tomlinson, b August 15, 1858 in Falls County, Texas, d August 3, 1933.

     James Albert Landrum, b 1853 in Alabama- moved to LaSalle County, Texas.

     Elizabeth Jane Landrum, b 1855, d 1946 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott, Texas - married Augustus Franklin Tomlinson of Falls County, and lived near Lott.

     Ella Louise Landrum, b May 8, 1860, d May 21, 1935 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott, Texas - married Eldridge Alexander Tomlinson, and lived near Lott.

     Caroline Landrum, b ca 1862 - married John G. Pettit.

     Joseph Landrum, b ca 1864 - was thought to be deceased by 1892, but no information found.

     Dr. Landrum and his second wife, Pherabee (Lee) had three children, who were:

Christopher Landrum, b ca 1875, was deceased in 1892.

     Louis Landrum, b ca 1879 - no information. Benjamin Landrum, b ca 1881- no information.

     The Landrum children married three members of the Tomlinson family, and the two family names have been synonymous with the activities of the Old Settlers and Veterans Association, and Tomlinson Hill.
