WILLIAM E. HAMLIN

 

 

     William E. Hamlin, b August 12, 1850 in Alcorn County, Mississippi, d April 1921 in Falls County, Texas and buried in Eddy Cemetery - was married to Sarah Suitor, b February 1853 in Mississippi, d December 1929 and buried in the Eddy Cemetery.

     William and Sarah came to Falls County in 1894 - purchasing land in the Thomas Glass and D. Y. Dunham Surveys near Eddy, which land is still owned by descendants. They were the parents of seven children:

     Mattie Hamlin - who married Ward Crosby.

     Marcus Hamlin - who married Ruby Maedgen.

     Dela Hamlin - who married Witt Stephenson.

     Nettie Hamlin - who married Leo Maedgen.

     Lonnie Hamlin - who married Mary Etta Isom.

     Henry Hamlin - who married Ara Braddy, and had three children: Beatrice Hamlin who married Ed Garner of Eddy; Henry R. Hamlin of Eddy, Texas; and Alma Jean Hamlin who married Fred Swanner of Axtell, Texas. Henry and Ara lived on the farm until 1958, when their health forced them to move to Eddy. Their son, Henry R. Hamlin, owns the farm and the Clearwater Farms Company, and is a breeder of registered cattle.

     Madgre D. Hamlin - who married Bowlin Isom.
