Jesse L. Adams & Julia Rogers Adams

     Jesse L. Adams, b 1833/4, d after 1874, was the son of James Adams and Jane Unknown, born in Arkansas, and moved to Texas, Gonzales Co. in about 1843 according to family history. Jesse married Julia Rogers, b April 1840, Lexington, Fayette Co. KY, d February 17, 1901, at King's Daughters Hospital in Temple, Bell Co. TX. Her daughter, Blanche Lazarus, was to also die about 29 years later in the same hospital. A granddaughter of Blanche's worked as a nurse in the same hospital years later. Julia was the daughter of Mathew Lazarus Rogers and Unknown Keitel. Julia and Jesse married May 5, 1859 in Gonzales Co. TX, and remained until just after the 1870 Texas census. We know that their last daughter was born in Denton, Denton Co. TX, exactly where is unknown, but in 1870 they were in still in Gonzales Co. TX, according to the census of that year. It is not known where Jesse died and is buried as of now. The children of Jesse L. & Julia Rogers Adams were:           

     Alice Mae, b August 3, 1861 Gonzales Co. TX, d August 19, 1933 in Houston, Harris Co. TX, bur. Cego Cemetery, Cego, Falls Co. TX, married W. P. Shotwell on January 21, 1879 in Bell County, TX.

     Blanche Lazarus, b June 8, 1862 Gonzales Co. TX, d Jul 25, 1930 Temple, Bell Co. TX, married Henry F. Greer in Falls County, TX.

     "P.W.", b August 22, 1864 Gonzales Co. TX, d February 22, 1939 Chilton, Falls Co. TX, buried in the Chilton Cemetery, married Rebecca Louisa Myers on December 17, 1887 in Falls County, TX.

     Emma Gean, b August 29, 1869 Gonzales Co. TX, d 1937 Axtell, McLennan Co. TX, married John Thomas Merritt.

     Lezza "Lzzie", b December, 1870 unknown, d about 1903 Washington Co. FL, married Robert Dennard.

     Bertha Julia, b January 14, 1873 Denton, Denton Co. TX, d March 5, 1946 Forreston, Ellis Co. TX, married Bud Jacobs.

     Jesse Jr., b about 1874, d ??.

After the death of her husband, Jesse L. Adams, Julia married Walter W. Bass on October 6, 1876 in Burnet, TX.
