Pioneers of Ellis County Camillus U. Fearis Contributed by Dr. David P. Fearis III   Camillus U. Fearis, one of the agriculturists of this section, was born in Ellis County in 1854, on Waxahachie creek, and is a son of David P. and Margaret E. (Barker) Fearis. He was educated in the common schools, and his father died when he was but ten years of age and he was early thrown upon his own resources. At the age of seventeen years he went out in the world to seek his fortune, and engaged in agricultural pursuits. For several years he has given some attention to the raising of livestock and has dealt some in mules. He has placed 320 acres of his land under good cultivation, and in addition owns 140 acres of grazing land; a portion of this was received from his father's estate, and the balance is the result of his own efforts. In 1870 he was united in marriage to Miss Mattie F. Harris, a daughter of F.S. and Sarah D. (Sweatt) Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Fearis are the parents of six children: Maggie, Stevella, David, Mattie J., Frankie B, and Camillus S. They are both members of the Christian Church.
