The Naney family moved from Boone County, Arkansas, to Ellis County in 1895. They settled about halfway between Avalon and Rankin near the Center School. In 1913, Bertha Naney married Mark Benjamin Bryles, who came her from near Little Rock, Arkansas in 1908. They were the parents of Mrs. Ruth Bryles Goodwyn.
