The cabin is the first one built by Benjamin G. Garvin on the south side of Waxahachie Creek just east of Midlothian and north of the present US 287. Some of it survived until about 1994 when vandals burned it down. The two men in the front yard are Thomas F. Garvin (son) on the left and Benjamin G. Garvin (father) on the right. Benjamin was the first commissioner in Precinct 4 in Ellis County when it was formed in August 1850. |
