Waxahachie Enterprise,  Feb. 12, 1904

Word was received in this city Monday of Taylor's death at Keene, Johnson County that morning. Tayor had been taken to Keene for treatment, his mind having recently become impaired. A few days since he jumped from a three-story window, sustaining injuries which caused his death. The body was brought to this city Monday night. Mr. Taylor was well known in this city and county as an honest, industrious, upright citizen and Christian gentleman. We deeply regret to chronicle his death and extend sincere smpathy to his bereaved family.

Funeral of Young Taylor

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this city Tuesday morning attended by a large number of friends of the deceased. The remains were conveyed to Bethel Cemetery near Boz where they were laid to rest.

Ellis County has lost a good citizen. He was a large land owner and had been quite successful in agricultural pursuits. A few years ago he left his farm and moved to Weatherford for the purpose of educating his children. When Trinity University opened in Waxahachie, Mr. Taylor moved his family to this city where he resided until death removed him from the walks of men.  Last fall his mind became unbalanced and from that time until his death he required closte attention of family members.  He was taken to a sanitarium at Keene about two weeks ago. A few days thereafter, as noted above, he jumped from a third story window, breaking his ankle and sustaining internal injuries which resulted in his death four or five days later.

Soon after coming to Ellis Coonty, Taylor married a Miss Whitefield, a member of one of the most prominent families of that day. Several children were born to the union - all now grown.

A Good Man Gone

I have been closely associated with Young Taylor for twenty years. I found him to be a straightforward man in all of his dealings and an upright Christian gentleman I have heard him pray often that he might lead an upright and honest life, and I think he did  We were close neighbors in the country and in town. I have had business dealings with him and all he wanted was what belonged to him and no more.  He was ready to help wait on and relieve the sick. We have been like two brothers for twenty years, but one by one we are passing over and we do not know whose time it will be next.

His brother-in-law, O W. Crockett
