Obituary John Spradling   The Dallas Morning News. Nov. 1, 1885, page 5 Tragedy in Ellis County - John Spradling Dead Special to The News. Ennis. Oct. 31. John Spradling, Avalon farmer, while in town yesterday fell under the influence of liquor causing his return home later than usual.  This morning his body was found just beyond Onion Creek bridge, shot by persons unknown.  He was driving a two-horse wagon and one horse was also killed.  When in town he had about $40 but no money was found on his body and it is supposed robbery was the reason for his death.  No clue has yet been found.   Copyright © 2009-2016, Ellis County TXGenWeb.
