Amanda Pinson, Ennis Pioneer

Mrs. Amanda Pinson, 84, wife of the late W. H. Pinson, and a pioneer resident of Ennis, died suddenl y with a heart attack Friday morning at the home of her son, Franklin, in Corsicana, where she had gone for a visit.

Amanda Champion was born May  4, 1849, in Ashville, Miss. where she married W. H. Pinson in 1864. He was a Confederate veteran who served the entire four years of the Civil War, having entered from Mississippi with Co. D. 2nd Miss. Regt. They came to Texas in 1893 and settled near Ennis where he died in 1921.

Surviving are eight children, three daughters, Mrs. P. V. Allen and Mrs. Joe Willis, both of Ennis, Mrs. F. M. Jackson of Rule;, and five sons: Luther Pinson  of Ennis, Robert Pinson of Swenson, Chester and Jimmie Pinson of Wichita Falls and Franklin Pinson of Corsicana. The body was brought to Ennis to the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. V. Allen where it will remain until time for funeral services to be held at the First Methodist Church.
