Obituary Jim Meredith   Former Ellis County Sheriff Dies in Austin The Dallas Morning News August 21, 1921, page 12 Special to The News. Waxahachie, Tex. Sug. 20 Jim Meredith, 65, sheriff of this county some years ago, died this afternoon at his home in Austin. He had been in bad health for some years and retired from business several years ago. Survivors include his wife and daughter , Miss Margaret Meredith. The latter was visiting in Waxahachie when she received word of her father's death.
