Obituary N. D. Clark Contributed by Debbi Rodgers   [Waxahachie Daily Light - April 10, 1906 (Monday?)] Uncle Nat Clark, who lived on his farm near Mountain Peak for fifty years, died there last Saturday afternoon. The burial took place at the Mountain Peak cemetery Sunday afternoon. Mr. Clark was 75 years old and was a good man. In his death, Ellis County loses one of her earliest settlers and best citizens. His wife, who survives him, is 71 years old. He has a son, J. F. Clark, residing in Austin, engaged in the real estate business there. [Waxahachie Daily Light, Friday, April 13, 1906] Tribute From a Friend I noticed the announcement of the death of N. D. Clark.  His long residence in Ellis County and his record as a Confederate soldier merit a more extended notice.  Nat Clark as he was known to his friends and comrades in the army settled about 1855 on the South Prong of Waxahachie creek.  He enlisted in Co A, Capt. W. W. Park's 19th Regt., Tex. Cav and became 2nd Lt. of that company.  He served three years of the war and was in many battles.  He endured all the hardships and privation incident to active warfare, which to the half clothed, half fed Confederate soldier meant much more than can be put in a limited space.  He was a good officer and soldier, a good citizen.   Copyright © 2003-2016, Ellis County TXGenWeb.
