Wilbur Yarbrough
Thursday, April 25, 1907
The friends of Mr. and Mrs. John Yarbrough sympathize with them in the death of their son, Wilbur, who died at their home and was buried in our cemetery yesterday.

Tom L. Sullivan
October 18, 1907
We read with deep sorrow of the death of Mr. Tom Sullivan of Crisp Sunday morning. He served in the Confederate Army from Holly Springs, Miss. and moved to Ellis County soon after the War. He was a Methodist and a Mason and leaves a widow and several children.

Roger Lee Briggs
November 4, 1906
Roger Lee Briggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Briggs, aged 4, died Friday, Nov. 2nd of diptheria and was laid to rest Sat. in the city cemetery.

Mrs. W.A. Boyce
November 22, 1906
Mrs. Boyce, wife of Capt. W. A. Boyce, died in Dallas and was buried here yesterday at noon from the home of Sid Farrar on Kaufman St. She was the daughter of Dr. Aldridge who came here soon after the War. She and the Captain were married here and reared their family at Boyce, coming here to live in the summer. All their daughters are married except the youngest and their son, Dr. Willie Boyce, lives in Commerce.

Mrs. Ward
November 29, 1906
Mr. and Mrs. Ward of Kentucky arrived in our town last Saturday to visit the family of their daughter, Rilla (wife of Jim Langsford). Mrs. Ward was taken ill, and died a short time later. Burial was Wed. afternoon.

Yancey Montgomery
Jan. 10, 1907

The news of the death of Mr. Montgomery  brought great sorrow to our town.  He died last Thursday of typhoid fever in Texarkana and was buried there the next day. He was the brother of Mrs. Mark Wright and Mrs. J. Quarles and lived here in his early manhood. We sympathize with his wife and children.

L. A. Daffan
Jan. 31, 1907

The sad news reached our town Monday night that Col. L. A. Daffan died suddenly in Ennis. He was born in Alabama sixty-two years ago and  grew up in Texas.  He fought in CSA in Hood's Brigade and was under Longstreet at Gettysburg and later at Chickamauga.  He leaves a family of six children.  Active pall bearers from the Masonic brotherhood included: P. Freeman, John M. Loggins, Lee Caldwell, W. E. Chapman, E. C. Meredith,  J. S. Telfair, C. H. McDuffie, Jack Loggins and Pat Loggins.  Honorary pall bearers and close personal friends of the Colonel's were:  Judge George N. Aldridge, Robert D. Berry and N. B. Graber, Dallas; Stephen Noble, Fort Worth; J. C. Loggins, Capt. W. N. George, Dr. T. C. May; Joe W. Allison, William Higgenbotham, J. Blakey, Capt. William Gaston, Dr. Hooper, Jere Clare, A. J. Rushing, Charles M. Lattimer, J. H. Hardy, J. J. Giddings, M. A. Wescott of Houston and Judge John West of Waco.

John S. Groce

John Sheppard Groce, prominent in business and insurance circles, died yesterday of a stroke. He was born in Talladega Co. Ala., and prior to moving to Dallas did newspaper work in San Francisco. He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Miss Margery, a small son, and three brothers, R. L. Groce, Victoria,.  Col. J. T. Groce, Galveston and George C. Groce, Waxahachie. He will be buried Tuesday in  Oakland Cemetery in Dallas.

Dr. J. C. Fears
Jan. 10, 1907

Dr. J. C. Fears died at his home Wednesday, Jan. 2, 1907 after several weeks'  illness, and was buried Thursday Jan. 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. He had been a citizen of Ellis County since 1869, living three years at Milford before moving to Waxahachie. Dr. Fears was born in 1832 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and took his medical training at  Louisville, Ky., graduating in 1859.  He and his first wife had three sons and she died in Milford. In 1876, he married Mrs. Whipple, widow of a Methodist minister, and mother of  T. O. Whipple and Mrs. Earnest Hines.

Mrs. Buchanan
September 26, 1907

It has been only a short while since the Mirror noted the deaths of two daughters of Mr. J. H. Kimble occurring close together. Now comes the distressing news that a third has been taken. Mrs. Buchanan, who lived on Grove Creek, died Tuesday afternoon.  Mr. Kemble is closely related to the Kembles here and his triple affliction is mourned by many friends and relatives.

J. R. Fleming
September 16, 1907

Mr. Fleming  had been in ill health since moving to town two years ago.  He fell recently, breaking a hip, which probably hastened the end and he died on Monday.  He was buried Tuesday with Masonic honors. He was 72 years old and had been an exemplary citizen here for nearly 40 years,  leaving his children the heritage of a well spent life. He settled on White League soon after the War, and was a  long time ruling  Elder of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. J. T. Murphy
March 7, 1907

Mrs. Murphy died at Ray on Saturday and was buried on Sunday afternoon. She was a sister of Mrs. Goode and Mrs. Ray of Waxahachie and an early settler in the White League Community (later known as Howard). Her former pastor, Rev. Clay Collier, conducted the service.

Zenas Q. Morris
Aug. 3, 1911

Morris, aged 21 years, 8 months, 11 days, died Aug. 2, 1911. Funeral services will be held at the residence of J. E. Morris, 803 Williams St., at 10:30 a.m. with burial in Bells Chapel Cemetery. Friends ad relatives invited to attend.

Dr. H. O. Stacy
October 24, 1908

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon with interment at the city cemetery. The Knights of Phythias and Elks are requested to meet in their respective halls for the purpose of attending the funeral of Brother H. P. Stacy.
