Obituary

Last rites were conducted at the Steel Hill Church of Christ at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, November 2 for Mrs. Sara Young who died of a heart attack on the streets of Spur Saturday morning. J.L. Pritchard officiated at the services.

Mrs. Young had accompanied her daughter-in-law to town and apparently was feeling fine when she was stricken. She was born in Grayson County, Texas, September 29, 1873 and was married to W.H. Young at Mason, Texas on November 1, 1893. She had lived in Dickens County for the past 48 years.

Surviving her are her husband, W.H. Young; and children, Elsie Blair, Milton Young, Willard Young, Nannie Frazier, Garner Young and Berta Lay. One son and one daughter preceded her in death. Brothers and sisters surviving are: L. Garner, Colin Boston, Lue Boston, Oda Tart, Lida Metzgar all of Mason, Cora Ingram of Kansas. 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildrenalso survive her.

Pallbearers were: Richard Westfall, Floy Watson, Willie Williams, Bud Hoover, Clyde Horn and Albert Latham.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Chapel in charge.

William Hamilton Young, long time resident of Dickens county, died March 6 at his home near Spur. Services were held at 3:30 p.m. March 7, in the Steel Hill Church of Christ, with Rev. J.L. Prichard of Brownfield officiating.

Interment was in Spur cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home directing arrangements.

Young was born July 10, 1871, in Bell county, and came to the Red Hill community near Spur in 1899. He was married to Kizzie GARNER in 1904[Nov.1, 1893] at Mason.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Elzie BLAIR, Robstown, Mrs. Nannie FRAZIER, Glenn, and Mrs. Bertha LAY, Corpus Christi; three sons, Willard T., Garner and Mit[Milton] YOUNG, all of Spur. One brother, Tom YOUNG of Hope, NM; 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren also survive.
