  • Lynn Young
  • Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Lynn Bertha Young, 67, in the Church of Christ, Condy Billingsley, Abernathy and Joseph Johnston, White River Church of Christ officiating.

    Mr. Young, a retired Gulf Oil dispatcher, died February 27. He had made his home at White River Lake since April of 1971. He was a member of the Church of Christ and served as an elder in the Abernathy Church.

    Survivors include his wife, Velma Young; two sons Vaughn Young, Midland, and Lynn Dale Young, Plano; three brothers, G.M. Young, Odessa; J.P. Young, Mancos, CA; Mike M. Young, Laramie, AZ; and seven grandchildren.

    Nephews served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Spur Cemetery.

    Graveside services in Spur Memorial Cemetery were held Monday, May 10, 1993, at 1 p.m. for Velma Young Watson.

    She died May 6, 1993 at Brownwood Regional Hospital. Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 1993 at the Goldthwaite Church of Christ.

    She was born January 6, 1906 in Hylton, TX. She married Lynn Young on February 18, 1924. He died on February 27, 1972 and she then married T.B. Watson in 1974. He died on February 6, 1977. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

    She is preceded in death by one son, Gene Young who died in World War II; also her parents and five brothers.

    Survivors include two sons, Vaughn Young, Kingwood and Dale Young, Plano; two brothers, Robert Williams, Spur and T.J. Williams, Goldthwaite; three sisters, Ruby Cox, Tulia; Juanita Medcalf, Cincinnati, OH and Jo Nell Hardgrave, Goldthwaite; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

    Stacy Wilkins Funeral Home, Goldthwaite was in charge of arrangements.
