Services for Buster York, 77, of Spur were at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Spur with the Rev. Richard Harbison officiating. Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.York died Thursday, February 1, 2001, at Crosbyton Hospital. He was born November 18, 1923, in Stephenville. He married Ruth Sweet on June 4, 1946, in Post. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and in the Korean War. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator for many years. He lived in Dickens and Garza counties most of his life and was a member of First Baptist Church of Spur.
Survivors include his wife Ruthe of Spur; five daughters, Clara Butler of Spur, Ruby Clifton of Post, Tommie Boswell of Missoula, Mont., and Debra Wilson and Dora Hood, both of Lubbock; two brothers, David York of Stephenville and Ervin York of Conroe; a sister, Pearl Jones of Bluffdale; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
