U.S.Flag   Funeral services were held Friday, August 12 at 10 a.m. in the Highway 70 Church of Christ for William G. (Bill) Yoakum, 59. Doug Williams, minister of the Aspermont Church of Christ, officiated.

Mr. Yoakum died August 9 at his home in Plainview, Justice of the Peace, Glenn Stone, ruled that death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Born in 1923 in Iowa Park, he was an automotive body repairman. He moved to Lockney from Spur in 1960 and then to Plainview in 1964. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors included his wife, Nina Merle Yoakum; a son, Billy D. Yoakum, Plainview; a daughter, Barbara Jean Carthell, Lockney; three grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction at Campbell Funeral Home.
