Obituary

Funeral services for Horace Elton (Satch) Witt, 75, were held Saturday, June 11, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Simmons, officiating.

Mr. Witt died June 9 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Amarillo following a lengthy illness. A retired farmer, he had lived most of his life in Dickens County. He was born in Runnels County, November 19, 1907. He married the former Bertie Mae McCombs on November 18, 1949 in Lovington, NM. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bertie Witt, Spur; two step sons, Bill Glenn, Stamford, and Sam Bingham, Lubbock; three step daughters, Bebe Bright, San Angelo; Neil Chance, Denton; Saunda Morgan, Lubbock; three brothers, Lois Witt, Crosbyton; Eldon Witt, Lakeside, AZ; D.O. Witt, Brownsville; four sisters, Ruby Love, Monahans; Mazie Maze, Lubbock; Novelle Smith, Ardmore, OK; and Dorothy Drennan, Morton; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and one aunt, Lena Hinson, Kalgary.

Pallbearers included Benny Maben, Elmer Maben, Richard Steward, Jimmy Stewart, Doug Smith and Elmer McCombs.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery.

Services for Bertie Mae "Babe" Witt, 89, Spur were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 1997 at the First Baptist church, Spur. Officiating was Reverend Richard Harbison, Spur. Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home, Spur.

Mrs. Witt died Monday, March 24, 1997 at St. Mary Hospital, Lubbock.

Mrs. Witt was born July 20, 1907 in Clairemont, TX. She married Horace Elton "Satch" Witt, November 18, 1949 in Lovington, NM. He preceded her in death June 9, 1983. Mrs. Witt was a homemaker and a member of the Blue Bonnet Club and the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Glenn, Stamford and Sam Bingham, Lubbock; three daughters, Bebe Bright, San Angelo; Nell Chance, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Saunda Morgan, Lubbock; 10 grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren.
