Services for Robert Williams, 85, Spur were held at 2 p.m. February 15, 1994 in the Highway 70 Church of Christ with Van Cash, minister of the Hill Street Church of Christ and Ernie Bishop, minister of the Highway 70 Church of Christ officiating.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams died February 13 in Keeneland Nursing Home in Weatherford, following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 24, 1909 in Stonewall County, near Aspermont. He had lived in Spur since 1948. He was a retired school teacher and administrator. He grew up in the Jayton-Girard community and graduated from Girard High School. He attended Spur High School in 1929 for credit affiliation and taught school in Jayton and Rising Star Schools.

He received a Masters Degree from Texas Tech in 1947 and served as Dickens County School Superintendent for 16 years. He also taught and was principal at Spur Junior High for 7 years and was Spur High School principal for 4 years. He continued to teach until his retirement in 1972.

Gracie and Robert PhotoMr. Williams married Elsie Marie McMahan on May 5, 1934 in Spur. She died June 13, 1965. He then married Gracie McKnight Watley in Balch Springs on July 30, 1966. He was a member of the Hill Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Gracie Williams, Spur; two sons, Mac Williams, Roundrock and Jim Williams, Fayetteville, AR; two daughters, Rita Parker, Weatherford and Anna Bob Weaver, Fayetteville, AR; two stepdaughters, Emmalee Gideon of Arlington and Donna King, Palmer; one brother, T.J. Williams, Goldthwaite and three sisters, Ruby Cox, Tulia; Jonell Hardgrave, Goldthwaite and Juanita Medcalf, Cincinnati, OH; 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
