Funeral services for Arner Watson, 75, were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Spur, with Rev. Norris Taylor, Stinnett, officiating.

Watson died June 14, 1986 about 6:30 p.m. in Methodist Hospital. Lubbock, following a lengthy illness. He was born July 31, 1910 in Leon County. He married Velma Coker, February 2, 1930, in Roby. He had been a resident of Dickens County since 1916. He was a gin operator, and served as a Dickens County Commissioner from 1946 to 1956. A member of the Baptist Church, he was also a member of the Lions Club, Knights of Pythias and had received the 25 year award from the American Red Cross and the 50 year service award from the Dickens County 4-H Clubs. He was also a former baseball player and coach.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Watson, Spur; one son, Bill Watson, Lubbock; a daughter, Beth Wilson, Odessa and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy.
