Sp5 Robert Walker Rites Held Here Wednesday, Casualty of Vietnam
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church for Sp5 Robert H. Walker, son of Mrs. E.L. Walker, Spur.
Rev. J.E. Lee, Anson, officiated, assisted by Rev. A. Todd and Rev. A.L. Davis.
Walker was the second Spur soldier to become a casualty of the Vietnam War. Andres Garcia was killed in action last year.
Sp5 Walker died during combat on March 4, in the line of duty.
A graduate of Haynes High School, he held the degree of Master Mason in the Western Beauty Lodges, NO. 138; was a member of the Lake Side Baptist Church. He had been in the Army since 1961.
Flags were flown in Spur in his memory and the town closed during the funeral service.
Members of Spur VFW Post 7212 were pallbearers, with members of the Western Beauty Masonic Lodge as honorary pallbearers.
Surviving besides his mother are two grandmothers, Mrs. R.W. Walker of Los Angeles; Mrs. O.M. Blanton, Spur; four brothers, Houston Brady Walker, Jr., Pasadena, CA; Leonard Walker, also of Pasadena; Wendell Donnell Walker, Ft. Hood, Texas; and Grady Walker, a member of the junior class of Spur High School.
Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

Funeral services are pending for Specialist 5 Robert H. Walker, son of Ethel Lee Walker, Spur.
Sp5 Walker was killed during the recent VietCong offensive in Vietnam. He had been listed as missing in action since March 4.
He is the second Spur serviceman to die in Vietnam Andres Garcia was also killed in action.
Official word has not been received as to when the body will arrive for burial here.
