Obituary

Services for Olney Walker, 80, of Spur, were at 11 a.m. March 4, 1991 in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Genoa Goad, pastor, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Norris Taylor, Idalou, former Spur pastor.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Walker died about 12:50 A.M. March 2 in the Heritage Home, Plainview, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 30, 1910 in Cross Plains. He had been a resident of Dickens County most of his life.

He married Cecille Vivian Duncan on January 27, 1927 in Dickens. She died May 15, 1988.

He worked for 26 years for Dickens Electric Cooperative. He retired in 1972. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Dickens County Sheriff's Posse.

Survivors include one son, Walton Walker, Cordova, TN three brothers, Eldon Walker, Plainview; Elbert Walker, Jayton and Lloyd Walker, Abilene; a sister, Aleta Moore, Abilene; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services for Cecille Vivian Walker, 78, were held May 15 at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Genoa Goad, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Walker died May 13, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock following a lengthy illness. Born in Denton on November 25, 1909, she had lived most of her life in Dickens County. She was a homemaker and a nurses aide. She married Olney Walker on January 27, 1927 in Dickens.

She was a member of the Spur Art Guild and the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Olney Walker, Spur; one son, Walton Walker, Memphis, TN; two brothers, Frank Duncan, Oliveburst, CA; Hugh Duncan, Garden Grove, CA; four sisters, Jewel Brown, Gridley, CA; Mae Booth, Silverton; Lee Allenbrough and Beulah Hill, both of Winlock, WA; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
