Funeral services for James W. (Buck) Waggoner, 52, were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Riley Fugitt officiating. He was assisted by Rev. John Martin of the Montery Baptist Church, Lubbock.

Waggoner was killed Sunday morning when the car he was driving was in a collision with another about 9 miles east of Crosbyton. There was a heavy fog. Mr. and Mrs. Waggoner were on their way to Lubbock to visit his mother, Mrs. Olive Waggoner. The collision occurred just as Waggoner had begun a turn off Farm Road 836 onto Highway 82.

J.W. Downs, Fort Worth driver of the other car was hospitalized in Crosbyton. Mrs. Waggoner received a broken arm and several broken ribs. She was hospitalized in Crosbyton, but transferred to Spur Hospital Monday.

Survivors include Waggoner's wife and mother; two daughters, Mrs. Marlene Cumbie, Lubbock and Linda Waggoner, Spur; three sisters, Mrs. Mac Stockton, Lubbock; Mrs. Tom Verner, Abilene and Mrs. Charles Woods, Odessa.

Interment was in Spur cemetery.

Services for Margaret Waggoner, 90, of Spur were Friday, June 19, 1998 at the First Baptist Church in Spur. Rev. Richard Harbison officiated.

Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Waggoner died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at a Lubbock hospital. She was born Jan. 20, 1908, in Gentry County, Mo. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from West Texas State University in canyon. She taught school in Girard and Spur until retiring in 1975 after 41 years of service.

She married J.W. "Buck" Waggoner in 1931. He preceded her in death in 1960. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spur for over 50 years.

Survivors include her children, Marlene and Billy Cumbie of Columbia, Mo., and Linda and Eddie Armstrong of Graham; one sister, Villia Porter of Dalhart; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
