Funeral services were held Friday, May 8, at 4 p.m. at the Baptist Church for John A. Wade with Bro. H.L. Burnham reading the last rites.
John Alvin Wade was born in Burkesville, KY, Nov. 22, 1871, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sut H. Wade. He was 70 years, 5 months and 14 days old at the time of his death, May 6, 1942 at his home one-half mile north of Spur after an illness of 4 years.
He was married to Miss Mary Greer, of Naylor, MO. May 24, 1932 at Dickens, TX. To this union were born four children.
Mr. Wade came to Texas from KY in 1882, settling in Bell County. In 1900 he moved to Haskell County and to Dickens County in 1923 living here since that time.
In 1933 he retired from the farming industry and moved to his present home.
Surviving Mr. Wade are his wife, Mrs. Mary Wade, four children, Gladys, Hershel, Kathryn and Jimmie, step-mother, Mrs. Nannie Wade of Rochester; two brothers, R.L. Wade of Spur and Will Wade of Rochester; 4 half-brothers: Geo. Loyd and Justus Wade of Rochester, and Charlie Wade of Claunch, NM; 4 half-sisters; Mrs. Walker Watson, Rochester, Mrs. Claude Kenemore, Planada, CA; Mrs. Julia Faulkner of Houston and Mrs. Goen Gobles of Llano.
Campbell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements and interment was in Spur cemetery.
