Funeral services for Lella Mae Waddell, 74, were held Monday at 21 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with church pastor, Rev. Sam Simmons, officiating.
Mrs. Waddell died January 21 in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness.
The former Lella Mae Hill, she married Rube Waddell November 3, 1926 in Dickens. She had lived in Dickens County since 1917. She was born September 11, 1908 in Stonewall County. She was a housewife and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Rube Waddell, Spur; one son, Reuben D. Waddell, Spur, and a daughter, Jerry Bowers, Denton; two brothers, M.O. Hill, Oregon, and A.L. Hill, Breckenridge; four grandchildren, Rhea Melton and Robert Waddell, both of Spur; Randy and Jamie Bowers, Denton; two great grandchildren, Serena and David Lynn Melton, both of Spur; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Spur Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Services for Reuben Albson Waddell, 86, Spur, were held on Thursday, March 18, 1993 at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Spur. Dr. Genoa Goad, officiating.
Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home, Spur.
Mr. Waddell died at 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 1993 in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock of a lengthy illness.
He was born in Waxahachie, Texas and had lived in Dickens County since 1921 coming from Hobbs City, Texas. He married Lella Mae Hill on November 3, 1926 in Dickens. She died January 21, 1993. He married Jessie C. Castleberry, August 11, 1984 in Rotan. He was a farmer, rancher and a Baptist. He was a former member of the Knights of Pithias, 1920-30's and was once named "Farmer of the Year" in 1969.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Waddell, Spur; his children, Reuben and Peggy Waddell, Spur; Jim and Jerry Bowers, Denton; and a step-daughter, Linda Silvey, Austin; three sisters, Serita Rosie Castleberry; Helen Patterson; Louise McBeth, all of Abilene; four grandchildren, Rhea Melton, Robert Waddell, Randy and Janet Bowers, Andy and Jamie Anderson; step-grandchildren, Chris and Cyndee Duhadaway, and Bonnie and Eddie Thomson; seven great grandchildren.
