Services for James Richard (Jimmy) Stewart were held at 11 a.m. Saturday morning in the First Baptist Church, Spur, with Rev. Norris Taylor, Stinnett, officiating.

Stewart died December 11 about 2:15 p.m. in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock. He was 61.

Born July 21, 1925 in Roby, he had been a rancher in the Spur area since 1938. He was a member of the Sur Masonic Lodge; Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star; Shriner; Member of the Scottish Rite; served on the board of directors of Farmer's Coop Gin & Supply; was past president of the board of Dickens Electric Coop, Inc. and was a member of the Spur Golf Club.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Baptist Church.

He married the former Minnie Ola Ward in Spur on April 30, 1949.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Ola Stewart, Spur; two sons, Richard Stewart of Spur and Bruce Stewart, Snyder; two daughters, Deborah Harris, Spur and Teresa Adams, Clovis, NM; one brother, R.D. (Soapy) Stewart, Lubbock; five grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Minnie StewartMinnie Ola Stewart 90, passed away on Tuesday August 6, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on January 25, 1923 in Forrest, New Mexico to Henry and Lillie Tice Ward.

Minnie Graduated Salutatorian from Melrose, NM High School and continued her education graduating from Draughon�s Business College in Lubbock, Tx. She then moved to Spur Tx. where she worked for Spur Security Bank as a Secretary.

Minnie married Jimmy Stewart on April 30, 1949. They moved to Kent County where she resided for 60 plus years. She was the family matriarch.

Minnie was a member for several years to many organizations including: 1st Baptist Church of Spur, Eastern Star, Spur Art Guild, Hillcrest Country Club, Alto Country Club, and Spur Golf Course.

She was an active member of the community, an avid golfer, artist, musician, Kent Co. 4-H leader, Girl Scout leader, and Den mom for the Cub Scouts.

Survivors include Four Children: Deborah Harris of Spur, Richard Stewart & wife Donna of Spur, Teresa Stewart of New Deal and Bruce Stewart & wife Becky of Snyder. Eight Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren.

Services for Minnie Ola Stewart, will be Friday August 9th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Spur, Tx. with Sandy Sandlin assisted by Eric Swenson officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home in Spur, Tx. Interment will follow at the Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur Tx.
