Graveside services for Velma Opal Smith, 88, of Spur were Wednesday, May 13, 1998 at the Spur Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Henderson officiated. Burial was under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.Mrs. Smith died Monday, May 11, 1998 at the Crosbyton Hospital. She was born August 30, 1909 in Floydada, Texas. She married Orie K. Smith on October 8, 1933 in Kalgary. He preceded her in death November 27, 1973.
She graduated from Spur High School in 1928. She lived in Spur most of her life. She was a member of Bethel Baptist church of Spur.
Survivors include one sister, Ophelea Cannon, Safford, Arizona; one nephew and several other nieces and nephews.
