Funeral services were held Saturday May 2 at Spur Church of Christ for Robert Franklin Smith, 74, who died at his home here Wednesday May 6 at 3 p.m. after a long illness.Mr. Smith was born February 13, 1885 in Tipper county, Tennessee. He came to Texas in 1896, coming to Dickens in 1933 and remaining here until his death.
He was married to Ida Mae Owen December 3, at Dunn, TX. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Mae Smith, 3 daughters, Jewel Williams, Lubbock, Mrs. Jack Jordan, Snyder, Mae Belle Britton,WA; 3 sons, Robert, Lubbock, Alva Earl, Levelland, Sgt. Joyce M. Smith with the Air Force, San Angelo nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Norvel Baize, Abilene, officiated and burial was in Spur cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Mae Smith, 79 were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Spur Church of Christ with Novel Baze, Abilene officiating; assisted by Gary Williams, minister.Mrs. Smith died Jan. 10 in Levelland. She was a member of the Church of Christ and had resided in Dickens County since 1933. She moved to Levelland in November, 1967.
She is survived by two sons, Alva Earl Smith, Levelland; Joyce Smith, Las Vegas, NM; three daughters, Mrs. Mae Delle Britton, Seattle, Washington; Mrs. Jewell Williams, Lubbock; Mrs. Bethel Gordon, Littlefield; three brothers, A.G. Owen, Fort Worth; D.H. Owen, Sherman; J.H. Owen, Gunter; three sisters, Mattie Tate, Stephenville, Lula Davidson, Mercedes; Alma Harrison, Gunter; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers included W.M. Erath, Floyd Faubus, Bill Dement, Elmer Cross, Alva Smith, Ronnie Smith. Interment was in Spur Cemetery.
