Jerry Smith Drowns In Lake Thomas, Snyder

Funeral services for Jerry Allen Smith, 12, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Assembly of God Church.

Rev. Chester Walters officiated, assisted by Rev. W.V. Bentley, Cactus.

The youth drowned in Lake Thomas, Snyder, about 4:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon. He had been wading in shallow water along with two other brothers when they all stepped off into deep water. Two of the boys were saved, but efforts to revive the youngster failed.

He had been a resident of Spur, all his life.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Smith, Spur; three brothers, Jerry Lynn, Paul White, and Gary; 3 sisters, Gail, Donia Sue and Vickie all of Spur; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Smith, Jayton and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Smith, Spur.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.
