Funeral services were held for Elijah L. Smith at the First Baptist church of Spur, Friday morning June 29 at 10 o'clock, with Rev. H.L. Burnam officiating.Smith, born in Alabama, was a long-time resident of Dickens County, coming to Texas in 1885 and Dickens County in 1915. He married Lula Belle Fite on March 17, 1898 at Hughes Springs, TX.
He is survived by his wife, one son, E.W. Smith of Spur, two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Woods of Denver City and Mrs. H.V. Link of Aspermont, two brothers, Tom Smith of Pittsburgh, TX, and O.M. Smith of Dangerfield, TX and 11 grandchildren, Clay Wood of Monahans, Mrs. LaJuan Miller of Denver City, Bill Link, Aspermont, Jimmie Smith, U.S. Navy, Billie, Bobbie, Ray, Jr., Jimmie, Patsy and Betty Smith and 3 great grandchildren.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery with Campbell's in charge of arrangements.

Last rites for Mrs. Lula Belle Smith, 80, who died Thursday, November 15, in Spur Memorial Hospital were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 in the First Baptist Church.
Rev. W.L. Kite, pastor officiated, assisted by Rev. W.D. McReynolds, pastor of First Methodist Church. Burial was in Spur cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
A native of Hughes Springs, Texas, Mrs. Smith had lived in Spur since 1915.
She is survived by one son E.W. of Spur and two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Wood of Denver City and Mrs. Derah Belle Link, Odessa; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
