Obituary

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Christ for Conley Lee Smith, 70. He died April 21 in the Crosbyton Hospital.

Officiating at the service were Bob Willie, minister and Rev.Fred Meeks, Baptist Pastor from Lorenzo.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Church of Christ. He had been a resident of Dickens County since 1918 and had lived in Spur since 1973.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lora Smith, Spur; four daughters, Mrs. Peggy Wages, Shallowater, Mrs. Nettie Jo Pritchet, Lubbock; Mrs. Connie Smith, Lorenzo; Mrs. Katie Whitson, Amarillo; one son, Homer Ray Smith, Lubbock; two brothers, Willie Smith, Spur; George Smith, Henderson; one sister, Mrs. Alla Ingram, Houston; five grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.

Lora Jane Smith, 83 of Comanche, died April 12, 193 in the Harris Methodist Hospital in Glen Rose following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hall and Chaney Funeral Chapel in Comanche,TX with Dean Summers, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. April 15 at Spur Memorial Cemetery, Spur.

Mrs. Smith was born November 25, 1909 in Hope, OK, the daughter of the late Theodore Kelly Ladd and Alba St. Cyr Ladd. She married Conley Lee Smith December 21, 1937 in Dickens. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1975.

She was a member of Taylor's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, Comanche.

She is survived by 4 daughters: Nettie Pritchard, Lubbock; Connie Smith, Fritch; Kathy Whitson, Walnut Springs and Peggy Wages, Shallowater; sister Vera Holloway, Brownwood; 2 brothers: Charles Ladd and Ray Ladd, both of Dallas, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
