Graveside services for Columbus Alexander "C.A." Smith, 83, of Claude will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in the Spur Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Burton, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Spur, officiating and under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc. of Clarendon.
He died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in Claude. Mr. Smith was born Nov. 26, 1920 in Jayton, Texas and lived in Canyon for 30 years before moving to Claude in 1998. He was a farmer and a cowboy most of his life. He married Margret Louise Clower on Dec. 2, 1942 in Spur. They owned and operated Grandmas Antiques & Stuff in Claude. He served in the U.S. Army Artillery during World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canyon.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue Lamm on Feb. 27, 2002 and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Margret Smith of Claude; a daughter, Catherine Ellison of Levelland; a son, Joe Smtih of Levelland; two brothers, L.H. Smith of Brownfield and Dan Smith of Benson, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
