Emory Shugart Fatally Injured In Accident Sunday North Of Spur

Austin Emory Shugart, 63, was killed Sunday night about 11:30 p.m. when he was hit by a grain truck near the Hi-Ho Drive-In Theater north of Spur.

Investigating officers said that Shugart had run into a post with his car and was apparently on his way to town for help when the accident occurred. He was killed instantly.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church. Rev. W.D.McReynolds, officiating.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Allen Moore of Rankin; his mother, Mrs. Ida Shugart, Spur; 3 brothers: W.P. and Elmer, both of Spur, and Dick, Roswell, NM; four sisters, Mrs. Roy Arrington, Spur; Mrs. Ralph Cobb, San Jose, CA; Mrs. Monte DeRance, Houston; and Pauline Sargent, Roswell, NM; 2 grandchildren also survive.

Burial was in the Spur Cemetery.
