Obituary

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. for Elmer Frederick Shugart 75, who died March 12. He was a retired farmer.

Rev. Norris Taylor, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiated.

Mr. Shugart had been a resident of Dickens County since childhood. He had made his home in El Paso for the past two years. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elmer Shugart, Spur; three daughters, Mrs. La Emma Milton, Midland, Mrs. Pauline Powell, Fresno, CA; Mrs. Virginia Ruth Cox, El Paso; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Sargent, Roswell, NM, Billie Arrington, Spur; Mrs. Montie DeRance, Lubbock; four grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.

Services for Elva A. Shugart, 91, were held April 10, at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Spur, with Dr. Genoa Goad, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Shugart died April 8, following a lengthy illness in Providence Hospital, El Paso. She was born December 14, 1896 in Bedia, Texas and made her home in Spur from 1910 to 1982 when she moved to El Paso.

She married Elmer Shugart on July 25, 1918 in Spur. He died in 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Eldon (Pauline) Powell, Fresno, CA; Mrs. Jack (Lou) Ryan and Virginia Ruth Cox, both of El Paso; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Three brothers are deceased. They include Ira T. Sullivan, David S. Sullivan and Bernice W. Sullivan.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
