Funeral services were held at the graveside in the Spur cemetery on July 9, 1944 at 5 p.m. for George Wilburn Rutledge, who died July 7 at 4 p.m. The services were conducted by Rev. Herman Coe.
The deceased is survived by his wife, five daughters: Laura Newman, Dallas; May Curtis, Spur; Jewell Watson, CA; Bernice Howell, Spur; Beulah Morrow, Spur; four sons, Earl Hale, Spur; Thurman Rutledge, New Guinea; Murl Rutledge, Camp Crowder, MO; and Calvin Rutledge, Camp Barkley, TX. Three sisters, Fannie Thorp, Lamesa, Lizzie Morris, Ore.; Della Bloodworth, Okla. City; 3 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mr. Rutledge was born Aug. 15, 1882 near Dallas. He married Miss Alice Ferris at Ft. Worth on December 28, 1907, and had lived in this county since 1927. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Funeral services for Alice Viola Rutledge, 92, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Bill Sanders, church pastor, officiated.
Mrs. Rutledge died Sunday at the Spur Care Center. She came to Dickens County from Crowell in 1927. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, T.S. (Sonny) Rutledge, Houston and L.M. Rutledge, Parker, AZ; 3 daughters, Mrs. Laura Newman, Nocona, Mrs. Beulah Morrow and Mrs. Jewel Watson, both of Spur; 27 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Spur cemetery.
