John Rucker

John Rucker Photo U.S.Flag     IDALOU (Special) — Services for John M. Rucker, 62, of Idalou will be at 1:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Canoy officiating. Burial will be in Spur Memoiral Cemetery under the direction of White Funeral Home.

He died at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary of the Plains Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Spur and moved to Idalou in 1966 from Burkburnett. He received a veterinary degree from Texas A&M University and had practiced in Pryor and Burkburnett. He married Charlene Witt on Dec. 26, 1950, in Crosbyton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and had worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Barbara Abbott of Crane; two sons, Thomas Charles of Granbury and Lawrence Ross of Artesia, NM; and six grandchildren.
